Throughout our history, we’ve heard what couldn’t be done in printing. Too much water waste. Too much energy use. Too much environmental impact. But at Mimaki, we’ve always seen these challenges differently. Here are three stories of how we’ve transformed ‘impossible’ challenges into innovative solutions.
Transforming Textiles
Traditional textile printing requires enormous amounts of water. In 1998, Mimaki introduced the pioneering Tx-1600S, allowing for the first time, users to digitally print direct onto fabric. Today, our groundbreaking TRAPIS technology offers a completely waterless solution.
Transforming Sign Graphics
The need to diversify applications and the more recent calls for improved sustainability, the Sign Graphics industry has undergone plenty of change over the years. In 2002, Mimaki released the JV3-130S, the world’s first high-production eco-solvent inkjet printer. And in 2008, we introduced the UJV-160, one of the first wide-format inkjet printers using UV-LED curing technology, reducing energy consumption by up to 90%.
Transforming Product Customisation
Initially product customisation was a challenging and costly endeavour, requiring expensive, energy and time-consuming processes. But Mimaki’s early innovation and adoption of UV technology – particularly UV flatbed technology – helped pave the way for today’s extensive and efficient printing workflows.
